My solution so far has been a Google Spreadsheet with all the fields I listed below.
This works, but since Avid is effectively "holding the keys," I'd much rather they manage this information automatically so there's no discrepancy.
My understanding is that activation codes are ephemeral, and change with every version, whereas System IDs are permanent 'serial numbers' that never change. My concern is that those System IDs appear no where on Avid's web account page.
Also, the Avid License Control App is still a manual process as you describe. It would be great if this were 'script-able' so one could poll many systems at one and collect this information.
Anyway, this may all be moot now... Avid seems to have changed their site to accommodate the new licensing models.
Right now, I have a bunch of systems "On Hold" in "CS review."
