Tony I suggest you take a peek at the myriad of posts I've had the last week or so since I began taking our SNDX 4.0.5 to 5.5.3 and also 6.0.1.1. Bottom line I found so far is Carbon Copy Cloner is about to become your best friend. I'm not talking one copy of your hard drive but several for protections sake. I got a 4 TB drive partitioned to 8 volumes and I've got each one full after 4 days of playing around. So get yourself a big ass drive to put multiple copies of the migration onto. First clone you startup drive as is. Now depending on it's state of clutter you might want to make another backup copy and go through and empty the attic, mine had 73 gigs of old projects, and find all the QT's you've been saving to the desktop etc.... that you don't need and get rid of them on the 2nd backup. On my system I was going from 10.5.6 to 10.6.3 from my DVD. The gotcha I had was when I went from 10.6.3 to 10.6.8 I got the Death screen and the drive was munched. After a lot of attempts I found the SNDX 4.0.5 was causing the death screen. It seemed to work on 10.6.3 but blew up the startup drive when upgraded to 10.6.8. I found if I uninstalled 4.0.5 before upgrading from 10.6.3 to 10.6.8 I could then install 5.5.3 or 6.0.1.1. Depending on your upgrade budget you might want to set up a 5.5.3 partition and a 6.0.1.1. Our sapphire V2 won't work on the 64 bit 6.x versions. Also I have found that on my home system when I went from 10.5.x to 10.6.x Sapphire 2 no longer will install and I had to upgrade to Sapphire 3. I haven't checked how my cloned upgrade handled sapphire but I'm thinking at work I got lucky and at least the 5.5.3 version will still work with Sapphire 2. I've been mostly concentrating on the 6.0.1.1. Make sure to set aside a chunk of time and several chunks of drives to make backups along the way. Clean installs are usually recommended but in my case that wasn't viable due to an Adobe suite licensee issue with reloading from scracth, e.g. somebody "lost" the install disks and no one has the activation code. ;-(
