Re: [Avid-L2] News: Avid Offers Unprecedented Limited-Time Symphony 6 Crossgrade Promotion

It appears to me to be an opportunity to get the platform in more seats and allow for future development of the tool (More licenses = more upgraders = more resources to develop with). Makes a lot of sense if you want to grow your influence in the industry.

I just wonder what the direction of the platform will be. The $1k is less important than the time invested to integrate it in my workflow. I personally find that Symphony has never been well explained for the generalists and while this promo will get their attention, they will still wonder if it has a place in their suite. CC alone is not very compelling when you consider the learning curve of introducing it into the process.

We've never had a Symphony software version available before and had a bunch requests for crossgrades and upgrades from FCP and Media Composer. We're not dumping inventory- just the opposite. This is an chance to give more FCP crossgrades some additional color correction and FX capabilities and a great price- same for any Media Composer user who is looking to upgrade.

Did the MC offer not do was expected so they upped the ante? And why exclude FCPX? Is a $299 software too cheap to include? Very interesting.
