[Avid-L2] Battery life (was: mac pro no?)

You know there are ways to lengthen (and shorten) Lithium-ion battery
life.

Two key points:

-Operating batteries at high temps (like over 85% F) will shorten the
life of your battery.
And things get hot in laptops left on all day cranking away on video
footage.
And heat affects battery life even if you're not running the laptop on
the battery.

-Run a complete discharge-recharge cycle at least once a month.
You don't want to do deep discharges (below 13V) all the time since
that will damage the cells,
but exercising the battery in a laptop that mostly gets run off AC
will keep the battery
alive longer.

On this Apple page you'll find some basic info and a link to a little
iCal reminder that'll help
you remember to exercise your battery:

Same rules we follow for camera and audio bag batteries (and those are
expensive!)
