So now you can control AND capture via FW and it works fine? Of course not as reliable as capturing from a Beta SP 10 years ago but hey - that's the brave new world! ;)
yeah, the EE setting can be a bad thing somtimes - PB means less trouble but then more often people telling me that they want to copy from on to another VTR or do a digital cut but the VTR doesn't get a signal although the input is set correctly..
Sometimes I think about the good old times when only engineers were allowed to touch VTRs.. ;)
I've noticed years ago that it helps a lot if the video input on a HDV or DV deck (or camera) is *not* set to HDV/DV (FireWire port). It seems that you sometimes get a 'digital loop / feedback' which sometimes prevents capturing totally - seen this on both Avid and FCP systems..
